How to: Setup Your First Boosted Post
Putting your business on Facebook has so many benefits, but have you noticed that getting people to "like" or comment on your posts seems a little bit like pulling teeth? Professional marketers have known for some time that getting attention for your business on Facebook can be difficult UNLESS - you throw some money at it!
Think of it as advertising for your business. What you've been doing in print ads and billboards for decades now translates to getting your content seen on Facebook.
One of the easiest and fastest ways to do this is through boosting a single post on your Facebook page.
For example, let's say your website got a makeover. Announcing this on your Facebook page is a great way to let your clients know that their involvement in your business through the years has led up to an exciting new development as business is thriving. BOOSTING that post with a few dollars will help more people to see the announcement and engage with it. We aren't talking hundreds of dollars. Maybe $5 a day, or $100 for a couple of weeks.
We created this quick, 4-minute HOW TO video for one of our clients recently, to show retail shop owners how to boost a post. The same principles can be applied to all businesses who want to boost their posts on Facebook.
Here are some very basic details to consider when boosting a post:
1) Choose your marketing objective: There are many options, but for general awareness of your post, use the "Brand Awareness" option. Facebook is able to tell how long a person will linger on an add, or how slowly they scroll past it in their app. This is one way they measure brand awareness, and it's the best way to ensure the people who like your page will see the post.
2) Choose your location: If you're in a specific area, choose your city to really target the people who would appreciate your post the most.
3) Set your budget: How much money are you able to spend? Again, we don't suggest putting hundreds of dollars into a single post - start small and work you way up to large dollar amounts when you're more comfortable with the process.
Boosting a post is a great way to spread awareness of new developments in your business, or for an event you're hosting. We have seen great results from this tool!
