Support Small Business Saturday Nov 27

Open Forum, the small business unit of  American Express has created Small Business Saturday. On Saturday November 27, shoppers are being encouraged to get out their wallets to shop specifically at the small businesses in their neighborhoods.  Following right on the heals of Black Friday, the well established biggest shopping day of the year,  Small Business Saturday is an overt attempt to shift buying behavior towards  locally owned retail and eating establishments. To sweeten the pie, AmEx card holders get $25 credit when they register and purchase at participating shops and store owners. Business owners will find promotional materials at a specially created Facebook fan page for both on-line and  storefront advertising.

You can read up on the facts about how local buying stimulates the economy, and then post information about Small Business Saturday on your FB or Twitter feeds. And if you're in Syracuse and want to know more about the 'buy local' movement, check out  Syracuse First, our local not-for-profit that is doing a great job of educating Central New Yorkers on how and why to buy local first.
